The event

The environmental sustainability of packaging is becoming an increasingly important purchase criterion for consumers. Therefore an overview of current research on European consumers' perceptions of food packaging and how this correlates with scientific life cycle assessment results will be given. Unpackaged and packaged food with different packaging materials will be considered and environmental impact categories, such as carbon footprint, recyclability and biodegradability, are then compared to the consumer perception.
