Plastic packaging accounts for a large proportion of global waste in rivers, waterways and oceans. This has a significant impact on animals and the environment. The use of synthetic materials in disposable products and packaging is therefore to be significantly reduced over the next few years. Plastic packaging has already been banned for some product areas.
Edible packaging significantly reduces waste.
Whether edible packaging made from algae, foams made from mushrooms or biodegradable capsules for powders and liquids: Companies in the confectionery industry now have a wide range of biocircular packaging materials at their disposal, which they can use to proactively promote the transformation towards a circular economy.
As part of the Expert Stage programme at ProSweets Cologne 2024, Hon. Prof. Dr. Sascha Peters will present some of the latest innovations in biocircular packaging innovations that the "Haute Innovation" agency has put together for the Sustainable Packaging Special Show.
