1. The Knowledge Hub at the Event Zone INGREDIENTS

Use the stage of the Event Zone INGREDIENTS at ProSweets Cologne 2022 for your presentation!

With the Knowledge Hub at the Event Zone INGREDIENTS, we are offering you as an exhibitor from the Ingredients segment a new and completely free service, that is completely free of charge for you:

  • On all four days of the fair from 30.01. to 02.02.2022, you will have the opportunity to present your topic(s) to the international visitors in a presentation lasting a maximum of 20 minutes.
  • The Knowledge Hub is part of the Event Zone INGREDIENTS in Hall 5.2 and offers you an additional platform to presentation of your company, new products or services.

Each presentation topic may be presented a maximum of once per day on all four days of the fair. If you want to present several topics per day, this is of course no problem.

The following services are available to you "free of charge":

  • Presentation stage:
  • Technical equipment
  • Introductory and closing presentation by a professional presenter
  • Announcement of the presentation (ProSweets Cologne homepage, e-visitor newsletter, signage)

At the Event Zone INGREDIENTS, our partner Innova Market Insights will present the four major, current trend topics of the industry:

Tailored to Fit (Functional snacking)

The market for functional snacks is growing rapidly and presents opportunities to brands that manage to stand out on the crowded shelves. Global snack launches with health claim have experienced growth of +7% in the past years (2020 vs. 2018). ‘Tailored to Fit’ is Innova’s #3 trend for 2021 as increased personalization allows consumers to take greater control of their diets. Opportunities are also seen to address specific diet and health needs through mindful snacking e.g., to improve their health, to help with weight management, to satisfy their ethical concerns or even simply to enhance the overall experience.

Plant Forward

Plant-based is becoming mainstream, innovations are now focusing on fulfilling multiple consumer needs and plant-based snacking is expanding globally with regional differences. The pandemic has raised the attention of the consumers towards their health. They are looking out for healthy plant-based snacks and confectionery products. Subcategories like snack nuts & seeds, fruit-based snacks and snack mixes are growing in popularity with plant-based claims experiencing stronger growth. Innovation is targeted at the experience of indulgence and improved nutrition content.

Product Mashups (Flavor and texture trends)

Today’s adventurous consumers are highly receptive to hybrid snacks & sweets that are blending ingredients, combining food types and mixing flavor profiles. In 2021 and the years beyond, flavors will significantly evolve with respect to functional attributes as well as taste profiles. As consumers are interested in trying new sensory experiences, cross category innovation is more common across new snacks product launches. Hybrid products are being innovated with concepts and flavors. Multisensorial experiences offer new levels of indulgence in snacks products. There is growing interest in richer texture experience, while the industry continues to experiment with wide variety of applications, multi flavor, texture etc.

Transparency Triumphs (Clean label evolution)

Innova Market Insights has been on top of the clean label trend, tracking the evolution of different aspects of this consumer-driven movement. The shift we are seeing in sweets & snacks is from clean label with a focus on mainly health driven factors (e.g. natural, no additives, organic…) to clean label (e.g. supply chain transparency, plant powered nutrition, sustainably sourced…). Across these aspects, environmental and sustainability issues have come to the fore front, thereby, driving many consumer decisions. Consumers are willing to learn more about where their food comes from and how it is prepared.
