ProSweets Cologne 2019: Event programme concentrates on the future trends of the industry

Numerous exhibitors (plus 4 percent in comparison to 2018) will be presenting their extensive range of products at ProSweets Cologne, the international supplier fair for the sweets and snacks industry, which is being staged in Cologne from 27 to 30 January 2019. Beyond this an exciting lecture and event programme that covers all facets of the supplier industry, is being offered. The trade visitors can inform themselves about the latest trends of the industry in special events on the themes reformulation and packing as well as in the Newcomer Area. Furthermore, the ProSweets Cologne Party invites guests to network and celebrate.

Speakers Corner
In the Speakers Corner in Hall 10.1., Stand H91, the trade visitors will be offered an extensive lecture programme daily on themes related to production, processing and packing. Expert speakers from institutions and companies will ensure the high quality of the lectures. For example, lectures on the themes sustainable packing and concepts as well as augmented and virtual reality for product marketing and sensor technologies for food packing will take place every day.

INGREDIENTS - Reformulation special event
Solutionf for the reformulation of sweets and snacks will be presented in the scope of the INGREDIENTS special event. The current trends involving the reduction of fat, sugar and salt as well as vegetarian or vegan diets will be addressed and thematised in presentations and at the exhibitions stands. In collaboration with Koelnmesse, the DLG (German Agricultural Society) is offering guided tours with intensive insights into the theme reformulation. They will take place at 3:00 p.m. from Sunday to Tuesday and at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. The tours last around an hour. The meeting point is the DLG stand in Hall 10.1., Stand B08.

Packaging special event - "Function meets Design"
Sustainability, practicability and lifestyle are important criteria when evaluating packing nowadays. How manufacturers master this challenge and succeed in finding the right design and materials is addressed in the special event Packaging - "Function meets Design" in Hall 10.1. at Stand H50. The experts from the partners, the Fraunhofer Institute, LSD GmbH, and PACOON Gmbh will be holding lectures on the focal themes traceability, digitalisation and sustainability.

Fraunhofer Institute
As part of the "Secure Networked Systems" performance center, the Fraunhofer Institutes EMFT, AISEC and ESK, together with partners from science and industry, have developed solutions to monitor processes in the production, transport and storage of foodstuffs.

Trade visitors will learn how to create brands with the help of augmented reality and create completely new, extended product experiences for consumers. In addition, the unlimited possibilities of VR are shown using the example of a virtual supermarket.

Pacoon GmbH
From strategy, packaging concept, material and recycling aspects to communication, the agency gives a deep insight and ideas for individually optimized solutions for companies in the confectionery industry. The topic of sustainability is in the foreground here.

In combination with the ISM, trade visitors will also be able to admire the product innovations and packaging innovations that have been created since ISM 2018 in the special exhibition New Product Showcase in Hall 2.2 in 130 showcases. In addition, the three most innovative products of the ISM 2019, which were awarded during the ISM Award ceremony, will be presented there.
